“Realistic” is one of those words that has a basic and broad definition, yet will be slightly unique in meaning for each individual.
In other words, “realistic” will hold a slightly different meaning for everyone. What may be perfectly realistic for me may not be as realistic for my neighbor.
To me, the word also implies that whatever is considered to be realistic will also be considered reasonable, logical, and obtainable.
It is a perfect word for goals because if the actual goal is to reach your goal then you want it to be realistic so it will be within your reach and obtainable to you.
Some people prefer to set their goals out of reach knowing they may not get all the way but will be happy if they at least get part-way to what they set out to do.
Then there are people that do better with setting their goals just out of their reach because they know ahead of time that they will work harder for it and actually make it happen.
For all these people this would be considered realistic for them. Most of us know what works for us and what doesn’t so most of us know what is truly realistic for ourselves.
If you are not one of the above and do not know what is realistic for you, it could benefit you greatly to sit down with pen and paper and brainstorm on it.
Success is more realistic when the goals are reasonable, logical, and obtainable for the individual. You know best what your capabilities are.
Focusing on what the word means specifically to you and writing it down is a great exercise and can help you to learn more about yourself.
This is why I love the word “realistic” and why I have used it within many of my domain names. It seemed the realistic thing for me to do.:)
I loved the thought of having websites where I can present realistic ideas for others knowing they can adapt them to what is realistic for them.
So that is what the word “Realistic” means to me and now you’ll know exactly how I mean it when I use it. What does it mean to you?
Are you ready to get realistic?
